Serpentine Launch - 26 June 2022

We enjoyed another great day of launching last Sunday at our Serpentine range. Numbers were less than usual with many members from Monash and Melbourne University competing in the Spaceport America Cup in the US (with outstanding achievements).

Despite a wet lead up to the weekend, the range was dry and the day turned out to be pleasant with occasional clouds and a steady breeze.

Peter OLeary certified L1 with his scratch built Red Rocket to 3,000 feet on an Aerotech I500. A very nice flight with the rather large main chute opening at apogee, as planned, resulting in quite a walk for recovery. John T certified L2 with an impressive flight of his Wildman, Wild Thong to 5,500 feet on a J400. Alexander Unmack completed his L2 exam with a 100% pass mark. Congratulations to Peter, John and Alexander and all the members who provided a variety of great launches. Norm McC visiting from NSW excelled with the greatest number of launches in the day.

Thank you to David Wilkins who has provided the photographs.
